I snapped a couple pics of the laser module before sending it back to Epilog to swap it out for a fresh one:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/heatsink.-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-953\" title=\"heatsink.-resized\" src=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/heatsink.-resized-300x107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/heatsink.-resized-300x107.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/heatsink.-resized-1024x367.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/heatsink.-resized.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The entire module is housed in a big aluminum block and sits under 4 fans on the cutter for cooling.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/power-interface-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-951\" title=\"power-interface-resized\" src=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/power-interface-resized-166x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/power-interface-resized-166x300.jpg 166w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/power-interface-resized-568x1024.jpg 568w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/power-interface-resized.jpg 710w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The whole thing appears to be powered off the main 48v power supply and it connects to the motherboard via a standard Cat-5 patch cable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/output-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-950\" title=\"output-resized\" src=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/output-resized-230x300.jpg\" alt=\"Laser module\" width=\"230\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/output-resized-230x300.jpg 230w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/output-resized-786x1024.jpg 786w, http:\/\/www.built-to-spec.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/output-resized.jpg 983w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 230px) 100vw, 230px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the opposite end you can see the laser pointer module, used to adjust the optics and help you position the laser home position. Overall, these modules seem pretty well designed and pretty convenient if you're building a laser cutter.
